Carlsbad Gap Am Contest – Saturday, April 3rd

ON Video Skateboarding – Summer 2002

If the beaches are too crowded this Saturday, come soak up the California sun at Carlsbad High School, and watch the top ams compete for their place in history at the legendary Carlsbad Gap. TWS and DC are putting together this last session before the gap is torn down.

Over the years, Carlsbad Gap has been featured in countless skateboard videos and photos in magazines. It’s a sloping area of grass equivalent to the eleven steps right beside it.  The ground you land on after the trick is up hill making it difficult to ride away.

Check out this video of Jeremy Wray, Kris Markovich, Rob Dyrdek, Atiba Jefferson, Josh Kasper and more talk about why Carlsbad Gap is so gnarly.

From 11am-7pm on July 11 and 12, the California Market Center will be the spot for this FREE urban art, craft and D-I-Y extravaganza. Impressive. There’s gonna be 200+ artists selling their handmade items—from clothing and accessories to ceramics and stationary. Basically, it’s like Christmas in July.

There’s also a Swap-O-Rama-Rama to exchange your old clothes, interactive workshops, free raffles, a photo booth AND air conditioning. After all, it’s being held on the 13th floor penthouse of the Center in L.A. in the middle of summer.
